about the week of Oct 31)

Nov 8 is Indigenous Veterans Day

Commemorated since 1994, this day remembers First Nations, Inuit and Metis people who have participated in Canada's military service (while having no rights and dealing with colonialism at home).

Brooklyn Nets' Kyrie Irving is on leave after sharing an antisemetic documentary on his twitter.

It feels like it will be difficult for Irving to performatively participate in this list, which is important!! We hope this type of accountability continues (and improves) for players, coaches & others who participate in antisemitism, anti-Blackness, misogyny, and more.

COP27 starts this weekend in Egypt and climate activists are already being arrested

The UN climate change conference usually has protesters demanding for more climate action, but activists are warning that Egypt has set up very restrictive rules and is already arresting demonstrators.

While we need to be critical of how the Egyptian government is wrongfully suppressing the fight for climate activism, we need to keep that same energy when the RCMP brutally arrests land defenders here, too.

Gidimt’en Checkpoint organized a "Kill the Drill" protest against the building of the Coastal GasLink Pipeline in sacred Wet’suwet’en territory.

How can Canada go to COP27 and talk about committing to doing its part to stop the highway to climate hell while also actively drilling a new pipeline?

Doug Ford's most recent systemic fuckery comes in the form of destroying the Greenbelt

New proposed legislation would "help" speed up housing development and impending climate doom as the Greenbelt is protected land for a reason - it helps ensure we don't experience extreme flooding.

What is Ford going to do when flooding happens? Shovel water? !

Children's hospitals across Canada are being overwhelemed as RSV cases rise.

Many routine non-emergent pediatric surgeries have been getting pushed back, leaving families concerned for when their children will get treated.

French MP suspended for telling Black colleague to "go back to Africa"

Grégoire de Fournas (of the far right National Rally party) has been suspended for 15 days after shouting slurs at fellow MP Carlos Martens Bilongo. Canada, can we learn from this and do the same to our far right MPs??

As Canadians across the country struggle with rising rent and overall cost of living, Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland shares she too is struggling - has had to cancel her Disney+ membership!

Elon Musk continues his vendetta and fires hundreds of Twitter employees without warning

Musk says the layoffs (which include many Canadians) are to 'cut costs'. There is a massive lawsuit coming Elon's way, as many employees are suing because he didn't give enough notice before firing them
