BSA: Use this historic opportunity to get 14 Cabinet Ministers to Support Status for All

Nearly 1.7 million people live undocumented in Canada. Despite being a backbone of the Canadian economy, as a result of our shitty immigration system migrants face human rights violations, lack access to sevices and are intentionally silenced by our system.

The limited rights given to non-status and temporary migrants makes it difficult to navigate any of the safety, legal, and health issues that migrants come up against.

They're intentionally treated like second-class people in a country that claims its a multicultural haven.

Status for All is about giving permanent residency status to temporary migrants, undocumented and documented migrants, international students, and refugees.

Migrant worker's rights groups have been organizing around a single demand for permanent residency status for migrants since 1968. This is what migrants still want today and HAVE wanted for literal decades.

Migrants most often not given landing status are not so coincidentally racialized and low-income. Ensuring status gives everyone living, working, and studying within these constructed borders the right to just live safer, healthier, and better lives.

14 federal Ministers will be voting on regularization (giving permanent resident status for all undocumented people) during December. They will decide who and how many people will be included, before sending their proposal to all Ministers (the whole of Cabinet) early next year. This is the perfect opportunity to champion change and take action!

We need these 14 Ministers – and especially Prime Minister Trudeau – to support an uncapped program through which all undocumented people and their families can apply for permanent residency immediately & oppose any exclusions or a program that gives just temporary status. And we need them to support permanent resident status for all 1.7 million migrants.

Use Migrant Rights Network's pre-written form to contact your elected officials directly.

Ready to go that extra step?

Show them that Status for All matters in their riding: If you are near their constituency offices, go and put up a poster on their windows and around the offices.

Fill up their voicemail: Use Migrant Rights Network's tool to leave a phone message to as many of the 14 Ministers as you can. See Link in Bio

Get ready for Dec 16 – 18: December 16th is the one year anniversary of Prime Minister Trudeau’s promise; December 18 is International Migrants Day. Start planning actions, and watch out for what you can do in a city near you.
